Green by LA Colors

This green shimmer had a foil-like quality to it, judging from how reflective it was. Probably my least favorite of the bunch, it should have been either more green or more blue, instead of this weird in-between hue. Still, the vibrancy of this hue will appeal to some, and you could think of it as a freebie since the entire set is so cheap.

Veruschka by Zoya

Merry Christmas, fellow nail polish aficionados! I had hoped to have a slew of posts dedicated to holiday colors up sooner, but alas finals and travel have slowed me down. I’ll start with this gorgeous matte green from Zoya. Dark and deep, much like Robert Frost’s snowy woods I’d imagine, Veruschka has a lit-from-within quality that immediately caught my eye. One coat is enough for complete coverage and it applies like a dream. The addition of a top coat brings out the intense brilliance of this color, as you can see in the third picture. I’ll be changing my color often this week for the holidays and New Year’s, so look forward to more reviews soon. Enjoy the holiday season!

Jumpin’ Jade by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

This gorgeous forest green shimmer brightened my day when I was studying for finals, and the smooth application nearly made me weep for joy. I’d been curious about Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri line for a while, but while it does dry quickly (within a minute or so), the real beauty of this line lies in its buttery formula and wide brush. I covered most of my nail in one swipe, and the formula made only one coat necessary, with no streaking at all. However, succumbing to the temptation to do only one coat meant that this still chipped pretty easily, so it would be best to do two.

Lime Lights by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
This is one of those colors that looks great in the bottle but ends up a mess on the nails. I forget whether this was two or three coats, but look at how sheer that is! I do wonder how it would have looked layered over white, but I don’t believe in getting polishes that must be layered. Despite all the fuss about mints, it’s rare to see a minty shimmer, which is why I was extra disappointed that this didn’t turn out well.

Emerald City by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear

Emerald City evokes my well-loved Zoya Ivanka in its depth and brilliance, which means that it scores high points from me as well. Emerald City is a tad darker, more pigmented (only two coats needed), and obviously it’s a shimmer rather than a glitter. This would make a great Christmas color.
